As a young pastor in 1981, the Lord
spoke to me at three in the morning out in the woods under a huge cherry
tree that was leaning over the creek, “I’m
going to bring this house [Community Pentecostal Church] into financial
frugality, and you will pastor a debt-free ministry.” That seemed
like a total impossibility with our huge debt, but miraculously, we
entered into that blessing seven years later. Since that time, we have
purchased property, built buildings, and continued advancing the Kingdom
of God—debt-free.
Now we face another challenge: a new
sanctuary and children’s center
(Click here to see the description). According to our
current finances, this looks like another impossibility. But God is
able! The book of Nehemiah is my great inspiration. When Jerusalem
was destroyed and nothing was left but a pile of ashes, God miraculously
rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem in 52 days through the hands of Nehemiah.
Without heavy equipment, cranes, bulldozers or bobcats, the entire
nation of Israel came together with one purpose.
Recently a family from Florida visited
CPC. They were impressed by the Spirit to give a $5,000 seed to build
a new sanctuary. Immediately, the Lord spoke to me that at least 1,000
people who have been blessed by this ministry could give a seed offering
of that same amount for the new sanctuary and children’s center.
Hallelujah! Faith leaped inside of me. That’s a total of 5 million
dollars. Yes, we can make God’s
vision for this ministry become reality!
In the new sanctuary, we will
build a Nehemiah Wall. The wall (40 feet long by 6 feet high) will
be made of marble with brass plates (3 inches by 8 inches) identifying
the names of everyone who participated in the Nehemiah Wall project
for our new sanctuary and children’s center. Here’s how
we will build the Nehemiah Wall:
