But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. 1 John 2:5
I am often asked how a person can read the Bible everyday when there are aspects that seem irrelevant in today’s society, as well as the style of writing making it difficult to understand. My first response is this: It is important for us to remember that it is not our place to understand God’s Holy Word, it is the responsibility of the Holy Spirit to impart the wisdom we need from the Word. God’s Word will speak to us in different ways at different times. It’s also important to gain a little perspective here too. Did you grasp Algebra the first time you had a class? If so, good for you, but most of us did not. It took repeated lessons and maybe even years of classes for us to truly understand the algebraic concepts. The same is true for God’s Word. You were never meant to grasp everything the first time you picked up the Good Book. Otherwise there would be nothing left the next time you picked it up. God wants you read His Word not just to gain insight regarding your own circumstances and troubles, but to fellowship with Him and to learn how to fellowship and live with your brothers and sisters in Christ in harmony. It is the manna from heaven that sustains us during the trials of life, and the water pouring out from the rock when we need a drink. The key to learning to love His word is simply to be in it every day. If for only just a moment. They say it takes twenty-one days to create a good habit or break a bad one. I challenge you to open God’s Word every day for the next twenty-one days and find the answers (and the love) you’ve been looking for!
You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
