“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.”
Behold. It’s a word the Bible uses hundreds of times in both the old and new testaments, yet many gloss over it, without much thought. Luke 2:10 uses the word behold to introduce the coming of Jesus.
The word behold means to “stop, look, and listen.” When we behold a message from God, we find the wisdom He is trying to impart to us. Wisdom is God revealing His truth beyond our human understanding. Wisdom brings us peace and freedom. And when we truly behold God and His great messages we become aware of two very important truths:
1. All things work together for good for those who Love the Lord and are called according to His purpose
2. Every good gift and every perfect gift comes from the Father
The takeaway message here is that when we truly learn to behold and hear God, we learn that the evil in this world is not of Him, and it is not His will that we live broken lives. We have been called by God. No one is exempt from the call. The only ones on this earth who are exempt from the ability to hear God are those who refuse to answer His call and follow Him. What awaits those who love God and answer His call is the forever presence of an unseen hand guiding and working in and through you to take you to a place of healing and deliverance. The precious unseen hand comes to every situation and doubt and takes you to a higher level where you can make decisions based on what God says and not what the world says. The unseen hand takes the pieces of our broken lives and sews them back together into a beautiful tapestry.
Loving God and answering His call to know Him better gives you wisdom beyond what the world can give. Can you hear Him today? He is calling, and patiently waiting to guide your every step. Are you listening?
“And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly.” 2 Samuel 5:24
If you struggle to listen and hear God, pray this simple prayer,
“Dear God, I need to depend on the Holy Spirit now more than ever before. I need to open my eyes. Help me to see, hear and listen to You like never before. I answer the call. I want to know You more. Help me to see You in everything I do. Help me to hear You and guide my every path. I love You and live only to serve You. Amen
