“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9

We are living in a day and time when Christianity and what we believe is becoming so clouded that we must take time to understand what God says about our sins and come out of the darkness of this world.  There is no gray area when we are talking about darkness and light.  Light dispels darkness, and when light shines in the darkness, the darkness must flee.  When we are walking daily in our sin, we are walking in darkness.  God called us out of darkness into the light, and that light is Jesus.  God is speaking into the  the darkness of this world today and calling us back into the light.  This world continues to move further and further from the light.  So much so, that the Light is becoming unrecognizable.

The Bible does not tell us to blend with the world.  We are called to love the sinner, yet hate the sin.  God’s Word explicitly tells us to come out from among them.  He called you and I to be the “light of this world.”  Just as Moses and the Israelites, we are called out of Egypt and the sins that live there.

Friend, if you are tangled in your sins today, there is hope and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  We cannot remain where the sin is and be the light.  If you struggle to find the light, pray to God, and remember these two vital strategies for walking in the light:

  1. Pray For Wisdom  Ask your heavenly father for discernment and direction.  Ask Him to guide you out of darkness and into the light.   The Bible says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”  God is waiting to provide you the wisdom you need to move into a closer relationship with Him, you simply need to ask Him.
  2. Surround Yourself with Light.  1 John 1:7 reminds us, “But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”  The fellowship of other believers is both powerful and necessary.  We become who we are surrounded by.  Surround yourself with those who love and serve Jesus.

As you pray and fellowship with other believers, God will bless your obedience and lives will begin to be transformed.  Look for Him today and watch Him work!
