“I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the Lord.'” Psalm 122:1
It’s a wonderful feeling to desire to go to God’s house and worship. But what about the days when that feeling is not there. What about the times, we are too tired, too stressed, too depressed, or just simply “not glad” about getting up and going to church? Let’s face it, there are times, we’re not in the mood to go to church. The problem is that if we are not careful, that feeling spills over into our worship effecting the outcome. The result? We are no better after we leave service than when we arrived. God intends for your worship to effect change in your life. He wants you to leave better than you came. If you don’t, chances are you’ll eventually stop getting up and going at all. If you find yourself struggling to “want” to go to church, pray about it. With sincerity in your heart, ask God to take the struggle away and bring the gladness, hope and joy He wants you to experience. The Word reminds us, “You will show me the path of life, In your presence is fullness of joy” Psalm 16:11. Did you catch that? To find fullness of Joy, we must be in His presence. Make no mistake, we can experience the presence of the Lord outside of church, yet our gathering together has a purpose too. “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25. As we are most undoubtedly nearing the end times, don’t let the pressures of this world interfere with your worship, or let Satan lie to you, telling you that you don’t need church, or “you should just stay home today.” Seek the Lord with a sincere heart today. Trust that in His presence is the fullness of joy and then you will be able to boldly say,
“I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the Lord.'” Psalm 122:1
