Never Seen Anything Like This
God’s people know that Jesus is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. We know of God’s greatness. We know salvation, healing, and miracles happen in the House of God! But, in order for others to realize this greatness, they have to hear of all the miracles Jesus performs and want to see it for themselves. Consider what would happen if we went out with excitement to tell people what happens in the House of God!
In this passage, we read about Jesus returning to Capernaum. People had heard of His return, and the crowd had grown so large that there was no room in the house where Jesus was. They had heard about the miracles He performed and the people He had healed. So, they had to see it for themselves.
He preached to the huge crowd as they packed into the house. Then, we read about four men who brought a paralyzed man to Jesus, but they couldn’t get through the throngs of people. These men were so determined and desperate for Jesus to heal their friend, that they decided to climb onto the roof and lower him down into the house. Their faith moved Jesus and He said to the man, “Your sins are forgiven.”
Silence fell in the house. They began to wonder why this man had just claimed to forgive someone’s sins, because this was blasphemy. There was no man who had the power to forgive sins! Jesus knew their thoughts. He had just put Himself into a position that was greater than a prophet, than a scribe, than mortality. He had just claimed something that made Him greater than anything on the earth!
If you choose to worship the God that takes away the sins of the world, there’s not a devil in Hell that can stop you from worshiping Him! Consider the story of Legion, overtaken by thousands of demons. The moment he began to worship Jesus because of who He was, things began to change! We soon read that he was back in his right mind! This was a testimony to all men in Decapolis.
If only people knew how God works in His house, they would flock to it! Jesus is more than just a man. He’s more than just a prophet, or teacher, or religion. Jesus came to this earth to take away the sins of the world. He came to heal all our afflictions! When we reveal what Jesus has done for us, and give Him all the glory and praise, it will be evident to all those around us. It is our responsibility to get the word out about Jesus and to do what we can to get people in the presence of the Living God. Use your testimony to show the world what they’ve never seen before!
We love y’all and we’re praying for you! We’re saving you a seat at Community Family Church!
