But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
Unfortunately in today’s society many people misunderstand God’s grace, using it as as excuse to sin. They foolishly believe that their sinful and vulgar lifestyles can be lived out under the guise of forgiveness and grace. Although grace is the unmerited favor of the Lord, it is not a free ticket to sin. Grace was, and is, God’s unconditional love and mercy, giving you and I the desire to rise above the temptation to sin. Realizing that “His grace is sufficient” for us to overcome sin, not to freely indulge and ask for forgiveness later. God’s grace gives you the power to run to Him in your time of temptation and not fall. God’s grace gives you the power to say “no” to sin. And, it is God’s grace that gives you the power to “go and sin no more.” It is the weakness of our flesh that causes us to fall into temptation and sin. God is our strength. We are living in a time of great apostasy in the church. The world is quickly grabbing hold of Christians and “watering down” the gospel message of Christ. Make no mistake the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ is alive and well in today’s society. But don’t be fooled by the “wolves in sheep’s clothing” who give you permission to live in any way that contradicts the Word of God. Yes, God’s grace is sufficient; sufficient enough to empower you to rise above this fallen world!
