I am a Witness of A Changed World
Did you know that ALL 204 of the founding fathers of this great nation claimed Christianity as their heritage? Each one of these great men that signed the legal documents to seal and secure our independence believed that there was only one God and that Jesus, his son, came to Earth as a man to die for our sins, and rose again after His crucifixion.
We take great pride in education and freedom, but how many of us know that the vast majority of schools and colleges in our great nation and around the world were founded by Christians? Check out the heritage of these leading Universities:
1.) The University of Chicago was founded in part by donations from the American Baptist Education Society
2.) The University of Zurich was originally a College of Theology and is currently ranked as the 5th best university in the world in engineering, science and technology.
3.) Oxford University’s motto is ‘Dominus illuminatio mea” which means ‘The Lord is my light.’ It has been in use since the second half of the sixteenth century, and it appears on the University’s arms. It is a motto used by hundreds of other schools and universities around the world.
4.) The founder of Stanford University in California was a graduate of Cazenovia Seminary, a college sponsored by the Methodist church.
You and I are free to live in this great country because of our heritage. And our heritage is based on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. The world was changed because God sent His one and only son to live on this earth for a short time and die as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. We can live free of the guilt and shame of our past because we are witnesses to this Changed World. As you go about your day today, and Satan tries to fool you into thinking he has won over this world, remember this old hymn, “On Christ, the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.”
Stand on the firm foundation of A Changed World that was founded by God-fearing people and is still under the authority of an almighty God!
