“So don’t throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you need endurance, so that after you have done God’s will, you may receive what was promised.” Hebrews 10:35, 36
“It’s always darkest, right before the dawn.” A cliche for sure. Usually meant to cheer someone up and offer hope, letting them know that things will be getting better soon. However, if taken literally we can surmise a few Biblical truths regarding this old saying as well:
There will be dark times in our lives:
Jesus tells His followers in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
To overcome in this world we must accept that there will be hard times. But if our focus remains on Jesus, we KNOW beyond the shadow of a doubt we have victory in the end!
The sun will always rise:
God promises us a fresh, new start every day. Jeremiah was reminded of this when he penned Lamentation 3:22, 23 “The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”
Each day is a new beginning, an opportunity for us to praise God, give him all the glory and place our burdens at the feet of Jesus. If you are facing a dark hour, seek the Lord with all your heart, pray through Hebrews 10:35, 36 and remember it won’t be long, “You’re almost there!”
